Jays From Home

#109 – Wild Race to the Playoffs

Matt and Steve are back together again and discuss a mostly underwhelming week of Blue Jays baseball. There are some positives though - Davis Schneider, Brandon Belt, Yusei Kikuchi, but also the confusing Alek Manoah situation. Some quick news around the league and a check-in with the B Teams & Ottawa Titans round out the show.

#108 – Autumn is Coming

Today, Matt keeps a close eye on the Seattle Mariners, Dave Hudgens posts some unfortunate pregame tweets, Alek Manoah is stuck in the quad-A netherworld and Canada can’t connect in the Little League World Series.

Later Matt interviews Phil Selig (aka @ CubaDugout) about his experience at the Cuba World Series, they also discuss the state of Cuban baseball and finish off by declaring the Yankees as hopeless this year.

#106 – Saviour Schneider

Despite a tough pseudo-sweep at the hands of the Baltimore Orioles, the Blue Jays salvaged the week with a series sweep against the Boston Red Sox. Steve hosts the podcast solo this week while Matt is away with his family at the water park so it's a short one. Quick mention to newly-anointed season saviour Davis Schneider, and honourable mentions to Brandon Belt and Dalton Varsho.

#105 – Lightning Round

#104 – Shark Week

Matt & Steve return from their All-Star break (is there such a thing as an "All-Star Podcast"?) to discuss the Blue Jays play since the MLB all-star break. Unfortunately, after a series sweep against Arizona, the Jays lost subsequent series vs San Diego at home, and on the road in Seattle. Matt brings up the prospect of trade season, has a couple of TV show recommendations, and talks about how much he enjoys Shark Week.

#103 – Great Expectations

#102 – Canada Day Weekend Blues

The Blue Jays won their series vs San Fransisco but despite the good vibes starting the Canada Day game with a pre-game Citizenship ceremony the Jays lost the series against Boston with a shut-out and then a one-run loss (and later, another one run loss on Sunday). Matt & Steve talk about the All-Star game player selection and the weird jerseys, and Steve recaps his experience at the Ottawa Titans 8-1 victory over Quebec Friday night. Matt would not have had a very good time that night, given his own recent experience with lineups.

#101 – Vlad Homers at Home

Matt is away camping so Steve tackles the podcast solo this week for what was overall a great week for the Blue Jays. It started off terribly with an 11-0 loss to the Marlins but ended with two home runs at home for Vlad. The two home runs came shortly after a fellow fan wrote about the four phases players tend to go through. Steve also talks about Pittsburgh's new City Connect jerseys. Plus: Ottawa Titans' Jamey Smart opening up about his mental health struggles.
