#132 – Game On, Charlie Hustle

Today Matt skips the depressing Blue Jays talk and interviews a couple of authors. First, he talks to David Bockino, author of Game On: How Sports Media Grew Up, Sold Out, and Got Personal with Billions of Fans about the evolution of sports broadcasting over the last 100 years.

Later in the show, Matt chats with Keith O’Brien about his book Charlie Hustle: The Rise and Fall of Pete Rose, and the Last Glory Days of Baseball. They delve into the Greek tragedy that is Pete’s life and how are currently reliving his mistakes in the wake of all the recent gambling scandals.

#130 – L3, 4-6

Steve hosts the show solo today to talk about the last two weeks of Blue Jays baseball. It's been pretty rocky despite the Jays offence showing signs of life. #129 – Mother's Day

Matt and Steve celebrate Mother's Day by talking about the Blue Jays! Wait, that doesn't sound right...

Is it still early in the season? Matt & Steve talk about bullpen depth, the team meeting in Washington, the early-season crossroads, Swanson's troubles, pitcher trades and signings, and looking ahead at the next 2 weeks. Plus an update on the Ottawa Titans who started their season with a loss on Friday, and Matt has some Radiohead-themed personal outcomes.

#128 – Struggling Offense

Matt and Steve are back to cover off another two weeks of Blue Jays baseball. Everything started out great, until they got to Kansas City. The brothers discuss the poor offense, the return of Danny Jansen, injury and trade updates including an update on Alek Manoah, and the "Green Glove" award. Around the league, the Rockies are under FAA investigation because of a video posted (and later deleted) showing a coach unaccompanied in the cockpit; New York Mets' City Connect jerseys; the return of the Player's Weekend; and who invented the high five?

Plus: Matt strikes out with packing tape.

#127 – (Renovated) Home Stand

Matt and Steve return to talk about the Blue Jays final road games as well as the start of their home stand at the newly-renovated Rogers Centre. It was a bit of a rough go over the last fortnight, coming into Sunday's action below .500. Luckily, the AL East is mostly in the same boat behind the Yankees.

Both Matt & Steve aren't happy with the offence, with Steve focusing especially on George Springer; Matt talks about how un-Gausman-like Gausman has been so far this season; and some rehab updates about Jansen, Romano, and Swanson, as well as some notes on Alek Manoah's progress back to the majors.

A quick update on the Shohei Ohtani gambling controversy, Oakland moving to Sacramento for three years, and a discussion on an increase in pitchers suffering from season-ending arm injuries. Plus: did Taylor Swift's camp have input into the Rogers Centre Reno's?

In personal outcomes, Matt talks about his moving woes and Steve is paralyzed by the paradox of choice.

They talk about the Jays decisive first win of the season (and 5th straight opening day win), Vlad's new spot in the lineup, the Cabrera shoving incident, and other Jays-related stuff. Plus a quick note on Shohei Ohtani's recent statement, Brandon Belt's lack of offers, and some crazy new ballpark food offerings from Seattle and Chicago. Plus: Is "WiFi PTSD" a real thing?
